The latest Impact Jersey grant programme, aimed at developing and deploying tech-driven solutions to enhance local visitor and retail experiences, will be officially opened to applicants on 7th November.
The new programme – CXTech – will work with innovators who have developed customer experience technology solutions with the aim of enhancing interactions, boosting productivity and improving operational efficiencies across multiple sectors of the local economy, including the retail, tourism, hospitality, supply chain, transport, and freight and logistics sectors.
Officially launching on 7th November, the programme is the third initiative to be spearheaded through Impact Jersey, which is funded by the Government and delivered by Digital Jersey. Interested innovators will have a 9 week window to submit their ideas with submissions due on Wednesday 15th January then being assessed by a panel of independent on and off-island judges.
Following on from the ongoing CareTech programme, CXTech will also be open to off-Island innovators to enable potential tech solutions to be brought to Jersey, with the winning proposals expected to deliver their solution within a 12-month period. The programme will be based on a 50/50 match funding model, with up to £500,000 being awarded for initiatives that will test, trial, stimulate and incentivise technology solutions.
In particular, applicants will need to demonstrate technologies that:
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of customer experiences that deliver products or services directly to end consumers.
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of supply chains that provide products and services to other businesses.
- Increase the amount of data that can be collected, analysed, and understood to inform industry.
Commenting on the new initiative, Tony Moretta, CEO, Digital Jersey, said: “We are really pleased to be launching our third Impact Jersey programme, which aims to shift the dial across the Island’s visitor and retail economy by using technological innovation to improve customer experience and boost business productivity.
“This is a real opportunity for both local and off-Island tech entrepreneurs to play a significant part in transforming customer experiences while combatting some of the challenges we are seeing in Jersey, from the increased logistics and freight costs to the fragmented digital interactions encountered when trying to access information.”
Deputy Kirsten Morel, Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, commented: “Jersey is faced with some significant challenges around its supply chains, workforce retention and changing demographics and those challenges are putting rising pressure on productivity. We know that, if we want to maintain or enhance our standard of living in Jersey, we need to increase our productivity – and this latest Impact Jersey programme provides a really exciting opportunity to achieve that.”
Established in 2023, Impact Jersey aims to address Jersey’s future economic, environmental and social challenges by accelerating and strengthening Jersey’s technology ecosystem, through a coordinated series of grant and challenge programmes.
